A wonderfully unusual mid-century Japanese tea service combining classic white ceramics with gleaming gold anodised aluminium covers.

Dating approximately from the 1950s–1970s, this charming three-piece set includes a teapot, sugar bowl and milk jug, each with its own removable gold aluminium cover.

The teapot is particularly interesting, with a traditional ceramic lid concealed beneath its felt-lined outer cover. The removable covers appear to have been designed to help retain warmth while giving the service its distinctive modern look.

A lovely example of the innovative designs produced in Japan during the mid-20th century, when traditional ceramics were often combined with new materials and finishes.

Perfect for the vintage kitchen, a retro tea table or a collection of unusual mid-century kitchenalia.

Condition

Good vintage condition with age-related wear to the gold anodised aluminium covers, including some surface marks and light scratches.

The felt lining inside the teapot cover shows wear consistent with age.

The white ceramic pieces appear well preserved in the photographs. Please examine all images for details of condition.
