A stunning vintage jardiniere planter by Maling Ware, England, dating to the 1930s. This piece features a richly hand-painted design with raised blue flowers against a deep plum-purple and green ground, finished with a soft pale green interior and gold trim.
Details:
- Maker: C.T. Maling & Sons, Newcastle upon Tyne (est. 1762)
- Era: 1930s, when Maling was celebrated for its decorative lustreware and Art Nouveau/Art Deco-inspired designs
- Design: Raised blue floral sprays over a plum-red textured ground, with pale green glaze and gilt rim
- Mark: Base stamped with the Maling castle backstamp and impressed pattern number (6567)
- Dimensions: approx. 15 cm tall x 22 cm wide
Condition:
Displays beautifully but does have two fine hairline cracks on the front and back (see photos). Stable and still an excellent display piece. Some age-related crazing consistent with Maling ceramics of this period.
💙Styling notes: Perfect as a statement planter for ferns or trailing ivy, or as a standalone decorative bowl in a vintage or eclectic interior. The bold plum and blue colours make it a striking focal point in any room.
