Before modern upright feeding bottles became standard, softly curved “comfort feeders” like this were designed to nestle into the crook of the arm, mimicking the natural position of breastfeeding. This early embossed Berry Feeder is a named example — rarer than the plain banana-style types, and sought after by nursery collectors and maternal-history displays.
The gentle banana shape allowed caregivers to hold baby close while keeping the milk warm with body heat. These feeders usually took a soft rubber teat and muslin guard, and were one of the forerunners to today’s ergonomic nursery bottles.
