Charming mid-century ceramic wall swallows in rich navy, yellow, and soft ivory glaze. These classic flying bird plaques bring a touch of nostalgia and movement to any vintage wall display. Each features detailed feather texture and a high-gloss finish.
Condition:
One swallow has a neatly repaired wing (see photo). Both present beautifully with secure hanging holes and bright colour.
Era: c.1950s
Material: Glazed ceramic
Origin: Likely Japan or England (typical of postwar export ware)
Dimensions: Approx. 14 cm wingspan each
Styling Tip:
Hang as a pair above a vintage sideboard, mirror, or bedhead — they bring instant charm and that sense of “homecoming” that swallows always symbolise.
Deb’s Note:
These wall birds remind me of the ones that once perched over every Queenslander mantel — a lovely nod to simpler days and breezy verandah living.
