A beautifully detailed antique terracotta tobacco jar, depicting a seated woman in layered black dress and soft blue bonnet, gently holding a teacup. Richly hand-painted in muted polychrome tones, with lace cuffs, golden shoes and expressive facial features — a fine example of European figural pottery.
Most likely made by Bernard Bloch & Co., Bohemia (now Czech Republic), c.1890–1910. The underside bears the impressed number 126, which aligns with documented Bloch pattern references from this period.
Originally designed as a gentleman’s tobacco pot or desk jar, but now highly sought after as a decorative collectible. Displays beautifully on sideboards, in library settings, or amongst antique sewing or letter-writing vignettes.
Condition
Excellent antique condition for age. Light, expected wear to paintwork, no cracks or repairs. Lid and form structurally sound. Displays wonderfully from all angles.

Deb’s Note:
She feels like she belongs on a writing desk beside old letters and dried roses — that quiet moment between tasks where tea, reflection and memory meet. A little story keeper from another century.
