A beautiful antique German Jugendstil vase, dating to approximately 1900–1910, featuring elaborate botanical decoration, sculptural twin handles and its accompanying clear glass flower insert.

Jugendstil was Germany’s interpretation of the Art Nouveau movement, celebrated for its flowing lines and designs inspired by the natural world.

This elegant amphora-shaped vase features a tall, slender body decorated with raised branches, deeply textured leaves and clusters of fruit, possibly gooseberries. The branch-like handles extend from the rim to the shoulders, beautifully complementing the botanical decoration.

The silver-plated metal has developed a distinctive aged appearance, with darker relief decoration contrasting against the remaining silvery finish.

The vase also includes a removable clear glass insert with a pretty scalloped rim, designed to hold flowers while protecting the metal body.

The underside carries an impressed manufacturer’s emblem and the words MADE IN GERMANY. The design and mark suggest a possible connection with J. P. Kayser & Sohn, a German manufacturer renowned for its decorative Art Nouveau metalwork.

A wonderful decorative piece for collectors of antique metalware, Jugendstil design and Art Nouveau interiors.

Condition

Antique condition, with considerable age-related wear to the silver plating, including areas of plating loss exposing the underlying metal. Surface spotting, oxidation, discolouration and scratches are visible.

The darker botanical decoration retains its attractive sculptural detail.

The removable glass insert is included. Its rim and surfaces should be examined for any small chips or imperfections.

Please refer closely to the photographs, which form part of the condition description.
