A charming vintage nursery set featuring two classic children’s rhymes – “Little Bo Peep Has Lost Her Sheep” on the bowl, and “Humpty Dumpty Sat on a Wall” on the mug.
Made in England by Bilton’s Pottery, this set dates to around the 1930s–40s and was part of their children’s range of storybook and nursery rhyme illustrations.
• Bowl: Illustrated with Little Bo Peepsurrounded by her sheep, with additional small rhyme characters around the rim. Backstamped “Biltons, Made in England”. Measures approx. 17 cm wide.
• Mug: Features a colourful Humpty Dumptyscene with soldiers, printed nursery rhyme text, and an unusual square handle. Base impressed but unmarked. Measures approx. 7 cm tall.
Condition: Both pieces show age-related crazing throughout, consistent with vintage earthenware. Colours remain bright with no cracks or chips. A wonderful survivor of early 20th century children’s ceramics.
