Description
A beautifully shaped set of six vintage English side dishes, made by New Hall, Hanley, Staffordshire.
Often referred to as “kidney” or crescent dishes, this elegant curved form emerged in mid-century tableware as a modern alternative to traditional round plates. The shape was designed to sit comfortably alongside a main plate — perfect for vegetables, salads, desserts, or supper-time sides — and became especially popular in Britain during the 1940s–1950s.
Finished in a soft cream glaze with pale green banding and a fine gilt edge, these dishes strike that lovely balance between practicality and quiet refinement. Timeless, unfussy, and endlessly useful.
